Sleepover V

Well, it is time ONCE AGAIN for my young ladies to come together and hang out for another sleepover. Wait, that names taken. YET another sleepover. Damn, that's taken, too. STILL YET another sleepover. DAMN! Okay: Sleepover V. Roman Numerals it is! ^_^

Damn, this is the fifth time I've shown these girls having a sleepover, and it's been eight years since the first one. Which means they're either getting a little too old to be having sleepovers, or they were way too young for me to show them in their underwear all those years ago. Or so that would be the case if I let REALITY come in here and ruin everything. I actually never assign my girls an age, I just assume: old enough for it to be okay to depict them in these pin-up pictures, and that's as far as I ever think it through. Besides, if I allowed room for REALITY, it would totally spoil the fantasy of these two girls just happening to be hanging out together in their underwear some evening.

I knew I had to really put my effort into this one, though. I really went all out last time to really make sure the girls looked as perfect as possible and make the setting as vibrant and detailed as I could. So, it really set the bar for this one. But I'm really happy with what I have, I feel like it illustrates another two years' experience pretty well, and I managed to give this one a little more intimacy, they're not in an enormous room this time, I'm depicting them at a closer distance. I guess I've learned how to work with the 16:9 aspect ratio a lot more since 2012. I don't have to worry as much on how I'll fill in the extra width anymore.

Last time around, I had them playing an NES, or rather, an NES was ON, and they vaguely had controllers nearby. Before that, I did a PS3 game. I thought this time I'd show Sega a little love. I've been playing a lot of Genesis games lately, especially some really cool ones that I missed out on as a kid. . . such as the one they're playing! I did have a Genesis as a kid, I got one for my tenth birthday, but I never had many games for it, I didn't have much spending money for them. And my brother had a Super Nintendo, and he was old enough to have a part time job and a driver's license, so he bought and rented WAY more SNES games. But I appreciate the Genesis more now that I'm older, too. I love the grittiness a lot of their games have, and the really, REALLY rockin' music. The Super NES absolutely had better sound capabilities, but man, composers for Genesis games REALLY knew how to use the sound capabilities they had. And it's just such a COOL looking console. It's got that sleek, sexy, all black casing. And yes, I went with the model 1, EVERYBODY KNOWS that's the best one!

And better still, it gave my girls a VALID REASON to be lying on their stomachs, so close to the TV like that. If you have a Genesis, you'll get why they had to stay close to the TV. Speaking of the TV, yes, I gave them the ONLY KIND OF TV on which you can properly play classic games! They just don't LOOK RIGHT on HDTVs. They weren't made to seen on that kind of screen, and it shows. I mostly use emulators for a lot of older games, and I always turn on the NTSC filter if it's available. That usually simulates the look pretty well.

But enough about that, let's talk about the GIRLS! Well, same two girls as always. I've been playing a lot of old arcade games on MAME recently. I finally figured out how to get it to play nice with my controller, so I can enjoy those old games lots more. Frogger on a keyboard? Ain't fucking happening! So first I pictured a girl standing at an arcade machine dressed in this Space Invaders underwear set, but I thought: NO! A girl in her underwear standing at an arcade machine? That's RIDICULOUS! Who would do that, for God's sake! That would just be gratuitous and no. . .

I'm very particular with how I'll combine girls with video games in my stuff, because I don't wanna perpetuate that "Look at ME! I'm a GAMER GIRL!!!!! I rook my clothes off, and found a pair of glasses! I'M ONE OF YOU! PAY ATTENTION TO ME! I have to sort out my DADDY ISSUES!!!!!" trend that's been a blight on the community lately. I find it insulting that anyone would assume just because you like video games, you can be pandered to that easily, and you'll just stop DEAD in your tracks because of nice tits or a cute ass.

So, I try to REALLY consider my context. Really, the fact that they're playing video games is of little consequence. This would work just as well if they watching movies or something.

Still, I liked the idea of the Space Invaders matching underwear set, and I was thinking of starting my next Sleepover project, so I incorporated the idea here. It was also a smart move because her outfit is mostly neutrals. As it is, I went through about 20 wall colors to get one that didn't clash with the rest of the scene. I didn't need any further complications there.

For the other girl, I wasn't sure what I wanted here. just that I knew I wanted something a little looser since the other girl was wearing something so form-fitting. So I knew I wanted a t-shirt here, and something cute that looked like it would be a shirt to sleep in. I was watching some Tweety Bird cartoons a week or so ago, I think that's maybe what caused me to think of putting Tweety on her shirt. And it fit, it's cute, it's girly, and he's mostly yellow, so it makes my choice of surrounding colors pretty easy. And I think she looks adorable. ^_^

Finally there's the bed they're on. I tried for a plush blanket here. I wanted a nice effect because I knew they would just be lying on the bed instead of on sleeping bags. And I wanted to show JUST enough of it to show that it's a fold-out bed, in particular: a sofa bed. I tried to show part of the sofa, but there was no way to make that look good. But the thin matress and the frame make it obvious what kind of bed they're on. Again, ideal for the sleepover setting and tone.
