Skies Over Balamb

I knew when I started this series, I did NOT want all three to have the same composition. I could've had them all sitting on the beach striking a pose, that seemed way too formulaic and repetitive.

So this one is not actually set ON the beach, as you can see. Instead, our girls are walking through the town of Balamb on their way to a day at the beach. Check out the "Cactuar Energy Drink" in Selphie's hand. It's one of those details that became harder to notice as I continued to work on it.

It was really important to me to make these people LOOK LIKE the characters their respective characters. I didn't want to draw a generic blonde and call it Quistis. I paid close attention to the facial structures and the hair. I did pretty well, I think, but Rinoa's was damned near impossible to nail.
