Description
Yet another case of overcoming artistic block at the eleventh hour. Only on this occasion it was NOT too late to finish it in time. I mean, I had to pretty much do this in one sitting, but what the hell, sleep is over-rated. What with its comfort adddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd... I'M AWAKE!
I went into this expecting something pretty similar to what I've done for past Fourth of July's. Something with fireworks, and probably a swimsuit and stars and stripes theme. Maybe an Uncle Sam hat. But I couldn't get excited about any of that. I'm not sure what gave me the idea to try an American Revolution theme, but I fell in love with the idea and ran with it.
Or at least I would've, but that's where the artistic block hit me! I couldn't get anything to look right. And even though it was NOT what I wanted to do with the holiday so quickly approaching, I did the only thing you really CAN do when one of those nasty blocks hits you. I put it aside and tried again at a later time. And damned if it didn't work. That time it just came naturally for me. And with [barely] sufficient time to finish it up.
And I absolutely love how it turned out. This will make my list of personal favorites for sure (how many times have I said that? It feels like I've said that a lot).
But I think the coats look really cool, I love the backdrop (it's a scan of the Declaration of Independence, but I tooled around with it a little. Luckily, that's not a copyrighted document. That or Thomas Jefferson will rise from the dead and sue me.) and the flag looks really nice there.
Finally, I made them bare-legged because, well, come on! It's ME! Of course I'd do that! If it helps, they're wearing white leotards, not panties. For some reason, that makes it seem a lot less... something. I can't think of the appropriate word. When I haven't slept, I get kinda... stupid... and take long, rambling roads to simple thoughts.
SO, I think I shall take my leave now, and try to nap for a couple hours before I head to my aunt and uncle's for the day. I hope you enjoy this!
